A Heart of Ice

In an enchanted land far away, a beautiful baby was born. The queen and king celebrated seven days in a row as they were so happy about this joyful event. The baby got many visitors. Everyone wanted to see the new born boy. An old and wise lady was among the audience. She had special gifts. She could read the hearts of people. When she saw the baby, she became very sad at once. She noticed that the heart of the baby was composed of thousands of ice cubes. She could also see the signature of a bad witch. The baby was cursed. Some years ago the queen was loved by a man and she could not return the love. One day the man called upon a bad witch and asked her to punish the queen. He was heartbroken and did not know what to do. Not long after that he died suddenly because once you curse someone, the toxin enters your veins as well.

The queen noticed that the baby was cold when she held it close to her heart. It seemed to be in good health but she sent for the royal doctor to examine her beautiful baby boy. The doctor could not find anything, but he was surprised that the body temperature of the baby was very low. The baby had the most adorable eyes and such a cute smile. Everyone was in love with him. The old and wise lady lived in a small house in the woods. The doctor sometimes visited her when he was not sure how to heal someone deeply. When the old lady saw that the doctor was approaching her house, she immediately knew why he was visiting her. She was waiting for him. They talked for a long time about this unique case. The old lady confirmed what she had seen the day she looked into the heart of the baby. It was made of ice. There was nothing they could do about that. She knew that a curse can only be broken when love is found.

A touch of true love can melt anything. So when the baby boy would become a handsome young man and he would meet the love of his life, his heart would be healed. Years passed by and the boy changed into a very attractive prince. He was so beautiful that the animals in the woods who saw him, just stood still and stared at him. Everyone who met the prince was overwhelmed by such grace. Furthermore he had such a nice personality. Never selfish, always thinking of supporting others first. The only sad part was that he had a heart made of ice. One summer day, while walking through the woods, the prince saw the most magnificent lady he ever had seen. She was sitting next to a tree and she was drawing a picture. He approached her and she did not notice him. She was too focused on completing her art work.

Seven birds landed on the tree. They sang the most touching song. The prince smiled. Then something wonderful happened. The lady looked in his direction. Her eyes were shining as diamonds. She introduced herself and he continued to smile. She was a visitor and lived in another land far away. By coincidence she arrived in the land of the prince. She was traveling around the world to publish her art work. She made the most beautiful drawings. The prince took his time to get to know her very well. She felt respected and cherished. She changed her plans and decided to stay longer in the land. Somehow the prince caught her attention. Every day the prince came to talk to her. He could only think of her. One morning the prince opened his eyes and saw her face reflected in the mirror. He had to meet her that day. He gave her a very precious rose.

It was one of the most delightful roses that the old lady nurtured daily in her garden with deep loving care. She talked to it with patience and never missed a single day to bless the rose with her goodness. She truly believed in the magic power of the rose. When the young lady accepted and touched the rose, the clouds in the sky vanished, the sun smiled broadly and the birds became natural top performers. The universe changed at once and a paradise was created. The heart of the prince melted the minute she held the rose close to her heart. She was such a gentle soul and her beauty was breathtaking. They deeply fell in love and lived happily ever after. The story was told to each new born baby to spread seeds of happiness and hope in everyone's hearts forever.
