Finally. The Key. How To Know If Someone Tells The Truth. The Full Truth

Finally. The Key. How To Know If Someone Tells The Truth. The Full Truth

I would be nice to live in a world where everyone would always speak the full truth. Unfortunately that is far from reality in our daily interactions at work and/or private. We are humans and for all sort of reasons we might decide to withhold our truth. 'Not a problem', I hear you thinking out loud. 'Who cares after all?' 'Let us just do our job, live our relationships and pay our bills'. Wait a minute, what if there is room for more growth, balance, inner peace and fulfillment?

What if the gardener plants seeds. Some of the plants have the miraculous gift to indicate when they need more light and water, even more love. They express it as they have the habit to not hold back. The gardener feels that they are struggling but has other things to do and he thinks he knows best. So the needs are not met. The next day the plants do not even try anymore to catch the gardener's attention. Several months after that the gardener notices how the growth stopped.

In another street another gardener took the time to listen to the needs of his precious plants. The climate was healthy enough to share everything. The plants felt at ease. Their growth was unstoppable. The gardener even had to buy more space as the plants were so keen on giving their best version of themselves. The gardener was proud to be in the middle of such magic expansion and it had consequences on all his relationships. He understood that the truth nourishes growth.

Admitted, not all of us learn to speak our truth in business and life. Sometimes we have been hurt and we are afraid that we might get hurt again. So we decide to play it small. We make ourselves believe that it does not matter anymore what we think. If our boss or our partner asks us what we think, we say with a friendly smile: 'Yes, let us do that'. Inside of us a war goes on, and we do not believe in the project, after all our boss or partner never showed appreciation for us.

The boss picks that vibe up and feels that we are putting the brakes on. It can also happen in the opposite way. In business and in relationships. Then the cold sets in. There is a freeze period. Nothing really grows anymore from here. Our boss holds back, we are holding back. Our partner holds back. A doom scenario unfolds. At the end of this under-performance someone dares to shout: 'I knew it!' Did you? Did you really know it?

If you knew something, it was your responsibility as part of the overall growth process to say a damn thing. When you see an accident on the road or a man beating his wife, you are also guilty by not taking action. Everyone of us has the power to change the course of the future. It happens now. Today we plant the seeds of our growth. Are we that ambitious that we respect ourselves and others enough to sign up for full growth? The Key is close. It is found in the book 'Hacking the truth' by Dave Worthen. Read the insights, apply them and you are walking in the middle of the garden where everything blooms!

Do you want to know the truth? It simply has the boldness to set your expansion and the ones whose lives you touch, free. More truth equals more growth. How far would you like to go? Use Dave Worthen's book as a wise compass and you will never get lost again.

Book summary:

"Hacking the Truth is an inside look into helping executives, managers, entrepreneurs, and anyone who leads, get down to the truth in situations that are blocking expansion in your business. This work spans forty years of working with CEOs, Executives, and small business owners. The pattern is always the same: Your company or business is successful, but expansion stalls. You work harder. Staff put in more hours. Your sales have hit a ceiling or are in a decline. Although your business may be doing “fine” it is not really flying. You have this sense from being in the trenches and knowing your business, that something is just not as it appears. And you are right. The problem is that most executives have never been trained or educated on how to handle the human firewall that their best staff or VP’s can put up. That’s right. Human firewalls. This is where disagreements are cached and withheld. This is where opposition, resistance, or even disaffection with company policy or procedure reside. The truth is, only individual beings can stop the forward progress of any group, business, or idea. And you would think in a group that’s committed to success, why would there be one or two that would want to put the brakes on? That’s the type of question most executives don’t think to ask. This is why you need to learn how to Hack the Truth. Hacking the Truth is a guide to teach you how to follow your own knowingness and perceptions all the way past and through the human firewalls your staff can put up. It teaches you to ask the tough questions and keep asking despite being cleverly detoured by those who don’t want to be found out. And once you get down to the truth, as the old saying goes, “Know the truth and it shall set you free,” is quite accurate. You and your company are not free to roam the cabin or truly fly if you have those onboard who have a different agenda. Hack the Truth and you will not only see a new resurgence in your business, but a renewed sense of well-being in your personal life." (Source: Amazon.com)

Some of the beautiful reviews on Amazon:

"In this book, Dave helps the executive, the mother, the wife, the husband, get to the truth! Excellent information and very useful. As always Dave hits it right on the head. It's those things you suspected, and Dave helps you spot it, and how to accurately and correctly handle it."

"So many business owners think they know what is happening in their business. That is until they uncover the truth. It is only then that they discover what is limiting their growth. Dave Worthen takes business owners down a path toward discovery in their businesses. He enables them to uncover what's really happening behind the scenes and make the necessary changes to maximize the growth potential of their company."

"Dave is an extremely talented writer. He discusses a tough subject in a way which makes it easy to digest, and he uses considerable humor as well. HACKING THE TRUTH will assist you to recognize when a colleague, friend, or loved one is not being honest, and will enable you to get through the falseness and lies, and bring the truth to light. When the disagreements and resistance and counter-intention are no longer there, you and your team can push forward your project or business venture to success. I highly recommend reading this book."

"First of all, Dave Worthen's writing style is not some stuffy, business guru style. Far from it. He writes as if he's talking to you as his close friend, complete with slang and in a very non-business manner. And it works. As I read along, I found it easy to understand the concepts he was trying to get across. Not imagine what the concept was but relate it to what I've already done and experienced. And while reading, I laughed frequently. Yet I found the message delivered in this book to be vital to me and what I do in life, business-related as well as personal. In fact, while reading, I had to stop to address some areas that needed some immediate attention. Quick communications from me were needed and I knew that the information I'd just read was a key to resolving some of the things that just were not making sense in situations I was dealing with."

"I personally have had the 'Bristly Brian' work for me more than once. They do indeed become bristly and hard for others to look at for just that reason - they don't want you to see all that they are doing or not doing."

"This book is a must read for everyone. This is not only for Executives and business owners, but for anyone interested in getting along with others. It shines the light on a major source of upset and failures in companies and personal relationships. Dave Worthen has a great sense of humor and is able to take a difficult subject and make it easy to understand and apply. You will be glad that you read it!!"

"It’s really good!! Dave Worthen is a unique and skilled writer. His sense of humor is fantastic. The simplicity, along with the human touch of his words, is so powerful. Precisely as the truth is! s a former entrepreneur, real estate investor, social media networking person and mother of three, I found myself interested in the idea of “Hacking the Truth” as something I’ve dealt with in the past. Then, while I was reading the book, I went through several moments where I could see how this simple but powerful tool might have been very useful for me at the time! Had I had a bit of it...I thought... many things would have been really different. The good thing now is that i have the benefit of understanding that the Truth can be Hacked and how to do it at once! I got to the point where I discovered that I had to apply this in some areas of my life right now! Evidently, Dave is a kindhearted person, whose greatness and willingness to help others is beyond comparison.
Definitely, this one is a must!"

"I have to say that this simple, entertaining and hard hitting book is a must for any executive, parent or business owner. I have four children and have been a small business owner (Optometrist) for the last 23 years. I wish I would have had this information back then. It would have saved me a lot of trouble and hundreds of thousands of dollars.  I have tried everything from being Mr. nice guy to being a tyrant. None of these desperate techniques worked. In this book lies the secret to success and actually having fun again. After reading Mr. Worthen's book I went out and applied what I had read. My biggest stumbling block was my own failure to "Hack the Truth". Something was stopping me. It was myself and my lack of courage to do what I knew I needed to do. Once I got over that and just applied the principles taught in the book I felt like nothing could stop me. The results have been nothing short of amazing. I discovered what was causing my practice not to expand. I have earned the respect of my staff and I now have a great group of employees. I enjoy practicing like never before. It has even improved my relationship with my wife and kids. I still wonder how I missed something so simple and miraculous. This book has not only improved my bottom line it has given me back my sanity and joy of business ownership."

wow John Rylance that is really beautiful, the gardening analogy you are following. It is exactly as you described it. I would not add one more word to it. It is perfection, like nature is.

Picking up on the gardening analogy. Truth will sometimes be thorny, often sweet smelling, occasionally poisoness, invariably colourful, and always needing nurturing. It's as much how we handle the truth whether given or received that is more important than the actual Being economical with truth isn't always a euphemism for lying, it can be making the truth palatable.

Truth is a concept whose life has run into relativism. Dave Worthen has opened up the doors for truth to be found by discussing your personal truth with those who you take/have risk. This is not without fear, but courage within the face of the fear. Relativism will be the fall of man if we do not find the courage to speak and find truth in our relationships.
