- Actively involved in the design and layout of the glass lab.
- Installation and testing of new equipment.
- Drawing up procedures for new glass tests & risk assessment.
- Glass analyses, depending on the needs chemical analyses, mechanical analyses and/or microscopic analyses will be performed.
- Independently carrying out specific glass melting tests with alternative raw materials.
- Measuring glass properties (strength, viscosity, optical).
- Reporting and interpretation of results.
- Experimental work procedures will be registered in a laboratory log-book.
- Reporting of the results in standardized reports in excel format, word and power-point.
- Industry knowledge : Knowledge about glass production process is a pre.
- IT skills : Micro-soft office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Product knowledge: Experience with analyses (glass) minerals and/or glass analyses.
- Knowledge analytical techniques: More than 10 years of experience and demonstrable skills in laboratory research with a wide variety of activities.
- Experience in the field of lab furnishing and design.
- Safety: Knowledge of Sibelco's safety regulations and ensure activities are in compliance with those regulations.
- Behavior skills: independent, strong communication skills, reporting skills, creative, solution-oriented, handy, accurate, team player, open to challenges

- Bachelor degree chemistry, physics, higher laboratory education or comparable.
- More than 10 years of experience in a research laboratory.

Dessel PlantJob purpose
The glass lab will be expanded and there will be more focus on measuring glass properties. A new lab will be designed for this and new equipment will be purchased. The senior lab technician will be actively involved in designing the glass lab and installing new equipment. He/she will also test the new devices and draw up procedures for their use.
Fundamental research on alternative materials will be the main research responsibility.
