    We help our clients progress on their transformation journey, from the understanding of this rapidly evolving landscape to the design and implementation of impactful strategies and actions plans all the way to their evaluation.


    To support the continued growth of our Sustainable Finance and Climate Policy practice, we are looking for an experienced Managing Consultant to join our team in Brussels, London or Spain (remote).

    The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and support our work on climate policy and sustainable finance for the European Commission.

    We are in particular looking for an individual with a proven track record in the field of carbon removals to support our growing body of work on this topic.


    You will get the opportunity to work on flagship projects such as the Innovation Fund, studies related to the EU carbon removal certification framework, permitting procedures linked to CCS projects and the transformation of our society towards a net-zero, nature positive and socially just model.

    Your work will benefit clients such as the European Commission, national governments, and international and national development finance institutions.


    Our team has built a reputation for the successful delivery of large, complex projects, developing innovative solutions that drive positive change for their clients and support the overall sustainable transition in the EU and beyond.


    Some of our flagship projects include:
    Providing continuous expertise since 2019 to support the successful implementation of the EU Emissions Trading System's Innovation Fund

    Supporting the design of decarbonisation strategies at EU and national level

    Designing Sustainable Finance Action Plans for different EU Member States to redirect public and private capitals towards the low carbon transition

    Delivering the European Business and Biodiversity Platform since 2013 for the European Commission

    Evaluating the impact of green bonds on supporting climate mitigation investments for the European Investment Bank

    Supporting National Promotional Banks in Poland and Spain with their sustainable finance strategies

    Responsibilities

    You will work as part of a multi-national, multi-disciplinary and collaborative team of climate and environmental experts, economists, engineers, financial experts, and communication specialists to:

    Manage and deliver a portfolio of projects for public and private clients

    Provide robust and sound qualitative and quantitative analysis and lead the translation of complex data into meaningful and impactful recommendations

    Lead large consultation effort with stakeholders through both quantitative and qualitative approaches

    Take a leading role in ICF's business development efforts in the field of climate policy with a particular focus on the large framework contract we manage for the European Commission


    Take a leading role ICF's thought leadership in climate policy, identifying emerging trends and opportunities and help to translate these into new service offers that will benefit clients with a particular focus on carbon removal.

    Required qualifications & skills

    Fluency in spoken English and excellent English writing skills

    Master's degree in climate or environmental sciences, environmental economics, environmental engineering, geology, or a related discipline

    Excellent track record in the field of climate policy and recent policy and technical developments linked to carbon removal solutions (both technical and nature based)

    Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis capabilities, including advanced knowledge of Excel and equivalent tools

    Excellent Project Management skills demonstrated by concrete experience of dealing with complex projects and multiple stakeholders in an international environment

    Excellent communication skills and track record in the field of stakeholder engagement, especially within public authorities and the business and finance community

    Ability to work independently as well as within multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary consulting teams spread across several countries and time zones

    Professional experience of at least 8 years

    Preferred qualifications & skills

    Fluency in a second EU language

    Entrepreneurial mindset eager to innovate and develop new solutions to address the climate and environmental crises.
